They told me they’re playing Caribbean Poker. I don’t really understand that game, but the way the cards are dealt doesn’t seem to jive with that to me.

One of the men told me that this was 10,000 Singapore dollars. I asked if that was a lot and he said yes. Turns out it’s over $8200 Canadian. He asked me if I wanted to play, but I said I had no money — if they’re trading over $8000 they’re probably way too good for me .

If you view the detail thing, you’ll see the blue bill has "50000" written on it, causing me to wonder if the guy misspoke and it’s actually $100,000 SGD. But apparently there is no $50,000 Singapore note, leaving me a bit confused.

If you are logging on to play at a play tech casino, you will find this game readily available.

Click here to visit The Best Online Casino

The basics of the game are very simple.

1) The player makes an ?ante? wager, which is not optional. In some games there is a progressive side bet.

2) The player and the dealer each get five cards. All players in the game get five cards, and they are all dealt face down. One dealer card is exposed. Players are allowed to look at their own cards but can’t share information.

3) A player must then fold and forfeit his or her ante and side bet, or raise, with the wager being twice the ante.

4) The dealer reveals his other four cards.

5) For the dealer to qualify, he must have an ace, king or higher. If he doesn’t, the player wins even money on his ante and the raise is a push. If the dealer qualifies and has a better hand than the player, the player loses both the ante and raise. If the dealer qualifies and the player wins, the ante pays even money and the raise pays odds based on the winning hand. If dealer and player tie, the ante and raise are a push. The progressive side bet is based solely on the poker value of the player’s hand.

The house edge is just over 5 percent, which is high. But a player who employs a sound raise strategy can cut that number in half.

There are very few absolutes in the game, but some of the general rules to follow: Always fold if you have less than the dealer’s qualifying hand (king high) and always raise if you have any pair or better.

Also, playing the progressive side bet is popular, but it is difficult to hit and the house edge is almost 30 percent.

Caribbean stud poker is a game with one simple decision to make based on the cards you have in your hand and what the dealer is showing. On the whole, it is not a difficult game, and once you get the hang of it, you can really make progress as a player.

Play tech casinos offer free online versions of the game if you have never played before, and this is a good way to get involved, learn what you can about the strategy of the game itself. Don’t really pay attention to your wins and losses in free play. This is really about establishing a knowledge of the game and how to play it so you will be familiar with it when you get to the real money on play tech.

Caribbean Stud is a fun, easy game that you will get the hang of quickly and it won’t take you long to find some success.

About the Author:

Free Stud Poker Tips – an article by Sean Moronse

Stud poker may be just a card game that will not necessitate its players to be physically able, but lack of knowledge on it can lead to financial ruin and cause more damage on the players than what they could possibly get from games that require strength. Stud poker is a game played with strategy, so it is helpful that you know some techniques to equip your mind with before you begin your play.

Free stud poker tips and rules are easily accessible by basically anyone who knows how to use the Internet. With simply surfing the net, you would find several blogging sites where users who play the card game post articles regarding skills, strategies, and other free stud poker tips. Also, even if stud poker is a game intended for gambling, there are lots of educational websites available that reveal even to minors the tried and tested secrets of the game and present additional stud poker tips for free. Even poker websites themselves such as Bodog Poker offer free stud poker tips and tutorials for its online players. Here are some of those tips that you might useful.

Know that there are lots of things you as a player can do which you think would be helpful, but in reality, could reduce your chances of winning. An example of this is the fact that many are led to believe playing to many starting hands will increase the probability of winning. However, good poker players are actually very careful and choosy in playing. They would play only hands that have an enormous chance at the pot.

Know also when and how to bluff. Your opponents do not know what exactly are the cards are in your hand, and the least they could do is guess. Use that power to make them think that your downcards are good. Do not exaggerate though, look calm and in control.

In addition, be mindful of your opponents’ upcards. If the card you need is now included in your opponents’ upcards, then your original strategy in mind will no longer be advisable to pursue. Adjust your line of attack accordingly.

Another common mistake of a player is attempting to slow the play when he has a premium hand. This is very wrong, since it allows the other players to remain in the pot until the end of the game. If you have a premium hand, raise your bet and eliminate as many players out of the hand as possible because anything can happen and your opponents might get lucky and render what was supposedly a very promising hand wasted.

Furthermore, paying attention to your own cards is important but paying attention to your opponents’ cards is equally important as well. Observe when they make a raise and how behave in certain situations. Likewise, do not let your emotions get the better of you. If an opponent has an upcard that you badly need for your strategy, do not get frustrated. Adapt a new one and do not let them you face betray any emotion. As the name itself says, put up a “poker face”.

Most importantly, be brave enough to bet, raise or call. You will go nowhere if you do not know when and how to push your luck.

These are just some of the useful tips for one who plays or plans on playing the game. There are still lots of free stud poker tips readily available in books and on the Internet. All you need to do is check them out and start enjoying your winnings.

The Author:

Caribbean Stud Poker Basics, How To Play, Strategy, Plus History Of The Game – an article by Ankur Vyas

Caribbean Stud Poker

Stud poker is any of a number of poker variants in which each player receives a mix of face-down and face-up cards dealt in multiple betting rounds. Caribbean stud poker is a casino table game with rules similar to five card stud poker. However, unlike standard poker games, Caribbean stud is played against the house rather than against other players. There is no bluffing or other deceptive techniques. The game rules and best strategies are easy to remember. Each seat at the table has a player’s layout and chip slot. A small LED lights up, when a chip that has been placed in the slot is allowed to fall through for collection by the dealer. This light should be watched as this indicates the jackpot bet.

How to Play?

You place a bet in the “Ante” box in your table layout before any cards are dealt. The amount can be anything within the table limit. Optional progressive jackpot can also be played with each hand. For playing the jackpot one can place $1 chip, once all the players who want to take part in the jackpot put their chips, the dealer will press a button allowing all the chips to drop through the slots for collection. These chips drop and activate a LED which stays on until the hand is over to show the winner.

The dealer places five cards to all the players without showing the cards, and the dealer takes five cards showing one of them and by seeing that one card the players will decide whether to play or fold. If a player folds then he/she will lose the bet and if the player chooses to play then they have to wager exactly double the bet in the box (or ante). This is called “Call” bet.

Now, after all the players have decided what to do, the dealer will reveal his other four cards and he can compete with all the playing members provided he has at minimum an Ace with a King (and, of course, higher than that). Or else he will pay an even amount to the players; in this case the call bet is a “Push”. If a player has a higher card hand than the dealer then they win and get their Ante & Call bet.

Progressive jackpot

To play the progressive jackpot, a player must make a side bet of $1 at the starting of the game. By paying the extra amount the player is agreeing that they will get a hand of cards that matches a flush or better. What so ever the outcome of the table game is, if the players cards matches to a flush or better, then the player will win the amount announced in the payout table. Players usually win 100% of the pot for a ‘Royal Flush’, 10% for ‘Straight Flush’ and a designated amount for ‘Four of a Kind’, ‘Full House’ or a ‘Flush’. This may vary from one casino to another.

How Progressive Jackpot Works

For every $1 bet, 71 cents goes into the jackpot and the casino keeps the other 29 cents. The contribution may vary. All payoffs are paid right out of the meter. Every time somebody hits a ‘Royal Flush’ the house contributes ten thousand dollars to the next jackpot. The house edge is just under the cut per bet because the casino puts up the initial $10,000 to start a new jackpot after someone wins the previous one.

Caribbean Stud Strategy

Raise with a pair or higher, fold with less than Ace/King, and raise on Ace/King if any of the following three rules apply.

Raise if the dealer’s card is a 2 through Queen and matches one of yours.

Raise if the dealer’s card is an Ace or King and you have a Queen or Jack in your hand.

Raise if the dealer’s rank does not match any of yours and you have a Queen in your hand and the dealer’s card is less than your fourth highest card.

The Author:

The Author:
